About Me - Belinda A. Prihoda
Welcome to my world of educational leadership and chemistry! I have had the privilege of holding various key roles in academia, ranging from Director for Institutional Compliance, Curriculum, and Effectiveness (my current position) to adjunct instructor of chemistry. My journey has also taken me through significant positions at Jarvis Christian University (formerly Jarvis Christian College), where I contributed as an Assistant Vice President, Director of Assessment, Director of Faculty Development, Director of Advisement, and Area Coordinator for Mathematics and Science.
My academic background is deeply rooted in chemistry and higher education leadership. I earned my EdD in Higher Education Leadership from East Texas A&M University (formerly Texas A&M University – Commerce), building upon my earlier achievements of an MS and BS in Chemistry from Texas A&M University.
As an educator, I have had the honor of teaching and mentoring students as a tenured Assistant Professor at Jarvis Christian University as well as an Adjunct Instructor at Tyler Junior College and Kilgore College. Throughout my teaching career, I have covered a wide range of chemistry courses, including General Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Biochemistry.
In addition to teaching, I have actively participated in grant writing and secured several significant grants to support educational initiatives. My efforts have been recognized through various awards, including being a Minnie Piper Steven Nominee and receiving the Educator of the Year award at Jarvis Christian College.
I am also proud of my contributions to academic publications and conference presentations, where I have shared insights on topics such as student achievement, higher education accreditation, and science education self-efficacy. Moreover, I have facilitated numerous faculty development workshops and authored publications to enhance the professional growth of fellow educators.
My dedication to education extends beyond the classroom. I have contributed to initiatives such as the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students and have served as a Sea Camp Instructor at Texas A&M University at Galveston.
